Figure Modeling project

This semester I've been taking Figure Modeling, which is one of the major required foundations courses here at AAU. I really enjoyed the class and learned new things from it. I've also found out that it's easier for me to be super loose and fast when it comes to sculpting clay than it is for me when I sketch - something I need to keep working on! Clay is like a stupid-simple, most forgiving materials to work with, which made things easy.

Our final project in the class is to construct a Fantasy Head - anything that we want. I chose one that I did a few years back but have been wanting to refine - a woman with female ram features, open-mouthed. Turned out infinitely better than the first bust I did way back (which I don't have a picture of right now, unfortunately). I had a small accident near the end when the head tumbled over and got a major dent in the head, which was difficult to fix and explains the significant asymmetry between the horns. :( Well, despite that setback, I had a great time slamming this thing together in a day! :p

I've thrown together compilations of progress photos and photos of the final sculpt, which will soon be fired and painted (single color).

fun little thing

Took an assignment for intro to effects in 2D class and added to it for fun. The assignment was to animate an explosion. At the same time I'm working with my tiger doll in my 2D short film class, so i felt like dumping him in here and making him NOT cutesy for once. Now I feel like doing a little montage of Mean Tiger stuff.... Well anyway, the doll's only keys, some breakdowns and a couple extremes & inbetweens sprinkled in there just to liven it up a little. Ended up putting sound in for more effect.

just a few small things to put somewhere. My good friend, Allie, is studying in Mexico for the fall semester, and recently she was taught how to surf. The first wave to come her way, she caught! So neat! I really wish i could have been there.
A friend in my 2D Short Film class, Mike, is doing a story that has a little boy with his dog in it. I'm not going to say anything about what happens, but I like it so much that I keep doodling the little dog. Both drawings were done on my iPhone.
And dang, I was thinking the past few days how much I hate people who enjoy tormenting others with guilt trips and threats - low and dirty tactics to drive people nuts. I mean, they REALLY take pleasure in seeing what their shit does to somebody, but they don't stop, because they want to watch whoever it is struggle with it. ugh. there is a certain slang term for them that i can't remember, but it starts with a P.

I had one of those out-of-the-blue flashbacks to whatever.. in this case, winter nights. only usually when it snows at night here it picks up an amber color... but sometimes it stays indigo.
something quick, to get it out.

Sure do

Post-it art is fun.
