This semester I've been taking Figure Modeling, which is one of the major required foundations courses here at AAU. I really enjoyed the class and learned new things from it. I've also found out that it's easier for me to be super loose and fast when it comes to sculpting clay than it is for me when I sketch - something I need to keep working on! Clay is like a stupid-simple, most forgiving materials to work with, which made things easy.
Our final project in the class is to construct a Fantasy Head - anything that we want. I chose one that I did a few years back but have been wanting to refine - a woman with female ram features, open-mouthed. Turned out infinitely better than the first bust I did way back (which I don't have a picture of right now, unfortunately). I had a small accident near the end when the head tumbled over and got a major dent in the head, which was difficult to fix and explains the significant asymmetry between the horns. :( Well, despite that setback, I had a great time slamming this thing together in a day! :p
I've thrown together compilations of progress photos and photos of the final sculpt, which will soon be fired and painted (single color).
